Police substation to open Saturday in Bevo Mill Neighborhood

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A St. Louis Police Department substation will open in the Bevo Mill Neighborhood on Saturday.

Residents of the neighborhood raised $2,000 to equip a computer that has enough security on it for police to use at the station.

The station is located on top of the Bosnian Chamber of Commerce, a space that was donated to police.

Alderwoman Carol Howard said the new substation will help bring a lot of people in the area back together.

The Bevo Mill Neighborhood has seen an uptick in violent crime in the past few months. There have already been four homicides in the neighborhood this year, and last November, three teens allegedly fatally beat a man with a hammer at Gravois and Itaska.
