AFFTON (KMOV.com) -

Police said a 911 call for a missing baby in Affton led them on a bizarre six hour investigation.

Authorities said they received a call a frantic 911 call from a home on Valbrook Thursday afternoon saying a baby wen t missing. When police arrived they received conflicting stories from witnesses. After additional questioning, police determined there was no missing child. Despite that conclusion, police do not believe it was a hoax.

“I don't think the reason this 911 call was made was for ill intentions or to take the police away from something. I believe this goes into a deeper personal matter,” said Sgt. Brian Schellman with St. Louis County Police.

Authorities said no crime was committed and also said they cannot go into more specific details due to privacy concerns.

A woman was taken away in handcuffs and was taken to a hospital to be evaluated.
