ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Stray Rescue of St. Louis is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person who shot a dog in North City.

A rescue team arrived to the 5900 block of Lotus Avenue Wednesday night and found a dog screaming in pain with a large bullet in her eye, shattering her jaw. Rescuers said the dog had been laying on the street for about 24 hours before residents called police.

The dog, now named Diseno, was taking to the Stray Rescue's trauma center where an x-ray showed a bullet lodged in the dog's spine, leaving her paralyzed.

Diseno was taken to an emergency vet center where she is currently receiving lifesaving care.

“What later made us cry was when she saw me, heard my voice and felt my touch. She wagged her tail as if saying ‘thank you for hearing my cries',” Randy Grim, the founder of Stray Rescue of St. Louis, said in a press release.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Stray Rescue animal abuse hotline at (314) 771-6121 ext. 225 or the St. Louis City Police.
