ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- The FBI on Wednesday asked for the public's help identifying a man accused of abducting a woman in Cape Girardeau and driving to Effingham, Illinois, where she was able to escape.

A FBI news release said a female victim reported to authorities she was abducted for hours on May 12.  The woman said she was sitting in her vehicle in South County Park in Cape Girardeau when she was forced into a red extended cab pick-up truck around 11:00 a.m.  She told police she was able to escape in Effingham around 6:00 p.m.

The FBI says the vehicle she was in likely drove through the St. Louis area on Interstate 55.

The suspect is described as a white male in his mid to late 30s with a salt-and-pepper goatee. He is approximately 5'10” and heavy set, wearing a ball cap, long-sleeve top that was dirty, and light blue jeans. The suspect is possibly hard of hearing and a heavy smoker. The truck is believed to have a large dent on the rear quarter panel behind the rear tire on the passenger side.

Authorities later released photos of a person of interest. If you have information about this case, please call the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI.
