Sheriff's department warns residents about fraudsters using their number

PULASKI COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Someone is using the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department telephone number to scare residents into giving them money to avoid being arrested.

According to reports, the suspect uses the name and telephone number of the department to tell the victims that a warrant has been issued for their arrest. The caller tells the victim the only way they can avoid being arrested is if they make a payment using their credit card.

Sheriff Ronald Long wants to remind citizens that the agency “does not” make telephone calls to execute arrest warrants.

Anyone who has received the fraudulent call is asked to contact the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department at (573) 774-6196 or dial 911.
