LOS ANGELES (AP) — A small commercial airliner with 43 people aboard skidded along a runway at Los Angeles International Airport after its landing gear failed to fully drop down Monday morning.

A Federal Aviation Administration spokesman says no one was hurt in the emergency landing of the SkyWest plane operating as United Express Flight 5316 from Monterey, California.

Passengers said the touchdown did not feel that rough and everyone burst into applause when the plane stopped safely.

The plane landed at LAX shortly after 8:30 a.m. The runway reopened seven hours later after the plane was towed away.

SkyWest says mechanics will inspect the Bombardier CRJ100 plane to determine what may have caused the problem.
