Good Samaritan robbed while helping suspects with directions

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Il (KMOV.com) – Police are searching for two suspects after they robbed a man while he was helping them with directions.

“He walked out to the van to tell the guy to go that way when a guy came back around and stuck a gun in his face,” said Roberta Rea, the wife of the victim. She says her husband Joe was just trying to help when he was robbed. “Joe was stunned. He reached in his pocket and gave the guy his money.”

Joe had just returned from the bank and stopped at a gas station. He had about $150 in his pocket which police believe may have made him a target. Officers say the suspects followed him from the Philips Gas Station to his home.

Surveillance video from the gas station was able to capture the suspects' vehicle. It's a Cadillac SRX with a missing front panel. Anyone with information is asked to call Fairview Heights police at 618-489-2100.
