Police think suspect robbed store in West Alton, South City

(KMOV.com) – Authorities believe the man who robbed a store in West Alton also robbed a Family Dollar in south St. Louis on the same day.

Authorities said a man wearing a Chicago Bulls cap robbed the Pit Stop in West Alton Friday. Security footage showed the man forcing the clerk to hand over cash the register, and then robbing a customer. Authorities said he brought a bag with him where people could place money and cell phones.

“He kept telling me to hurry up, you're not going fast enough. Hurry, hurry, hurry. Hurry up or I'll shoot," said a victim named Danielle.

Authorities said the suspect did the same thing at the Family Dollar Store on south Jefferson eight hours earlier. Police said the suspect wore a mask on his face that is actually a scarf used by snowboarders. At one point, the suspect cocks his gun and puts in the clerk's face.

“Can you imagine if somebody startled him just on accident while walking into the store? Even if he doesn't have any intention of shooting that person, to cock that revolver and point it at a person was more than dangerous. I can't articulate how dangerous that is,” said Sgt Mike Marshall with the St. Charles County Police Department.

Police said security cameras did not record his vehicle because it may have been out of the camera's range. Authorities also think someone else may have been driving the getaway car.

Anyone with information is asked to call the St. Charles County Police Department.
