Neighbors of 24-year-old Michael Gordon, who is accused of killing SIUE student Taylor Clark, told News 4 they are shocked Gordon is an alleged murderer.

Neighbors spoke to News 4 while police cars were going in out and of Fletcher Street in Jennings, the street Gordon had lived on since June. Authorities were searching Gordon's home for clues.

“He didn't have a whole lot of traffic running in and out or nothing like that. He seemed to be a pretty quiet, normal guy,” said neighbor James Norwood.

Gordon told neighbors he was moving to Las Vegas to become a boxer.

“It's just so funny you never know who is staying next door to you. I never would have thought he'd do something like that,” said neighbor Felice Fox.

Gordon worked as a recruiter at the MTC Truck Driver School in north St. Louis County. Authorities allege Gordon and Clark met in MTC's parking lot about a car that was listed for sale on Craigslist. Gordon then allegedly shot Clark and tried to hide his body. Police believe the shooting occurred on Gordon's lunch break.

Investigators recently found Gordon's BMW and will be checking it for evidence. Police do not believe Clark and Gordon met for an illicit reason.

“The only connection that we have currently between the victim and suspect is simply the Craigslist Ad,” said Captain Fagan with the Major Case Squad.

Police are also looking at surveillance video and are searching for the murder weapon.
