Woman concerned after valet misplaces her keys at local hospital

Deborah King said she became concerned after her keys were misplaced by a valet at St. Anthony's Medical Center in south St. Louis County.

King said the mix up happened when she took her daughter to St. Anthony's last week.

“He told me ‘Ms. King, I have your keys, here's your stub. This stub stays in the box,” King said.

King said the valet returned in a Lincoln Navigator; King drives a Honda Civic. Her keys were misplaced and turned up several hours later. Even though the keys were returned, King said she was worried that they could be copied.

“Long enough to have a spare key made of the apartment or the car,” King said.

King said she had to get her keys changed, and asked ABM, the company that runs the valet stand, to cover the cost of changing keys. King said she had trouble getting through to the company until News 4 stepped in.

“Thankfully because I called you (KMOV) I got a quick response. The top manager called me and agreed to change the locks to the ignition, the door, and the apartment. So I'm happy now,” King said.

The valet company later sent a statement to News 4:

“We regret the inconvenience caused to Ms. King and her daughter. We are taking steps to rekey all appropriate door locks for Ms. King and her daughter, and we are taking preventative measures to avoid this type of situation happening again.”
