MAPLEWOOD, Mo. (KMOV.com) - Police said a Metro shuttle got into an accident in Maplewood after a passenger assaulted the driver.

Uriyah Reed, 31, is facing second-degree assault and first-degree property damage charges after he allegedly punched a Metro shuttle bus driver in the head and upper body multiple times May 5, police said. 

The attack caused the Metro bus driver to lose control of the vehicle and crash into a Metro Transit bus stop shelter in the 7910 block of Manchester Road. The accident caused over $750 worth of damage.

The driver suffered subconjunctival hemorrhage, a zygomatic arch fracture and a laceration on the upper lip, which required stitches.
