NORTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV) -- A St. Louis County police officer responding to an officer in need of aid call lost control of his car, went down an embankment and overturned his car Sunday.

The officer has non-life threatening injuries and St. Louis County Police say he is likely to be released later today.

The incident began when police received a call about a robbery suspect in the area of Old Halls Ferry and Dunn Road. Police located the suspect and attempted to talk to him, but he ran off, which set off a foot pursuit. An officer in need of aid call went out.

County police say the patrol car had its lights and sirens on at the time of the accident, and no other cars were involved.

The robbery suspect was taken into custody.
