Mother refuses to take back violent son, may face charges

(KMOV.com) – The mother of a violent 11-year-old may face child endangerment charges if she doesn't take back her son.

The child spent several weeks with counselors and specialists, but now it's time for his mother, Heather Wagoner, to take him home. However, she says she is in no position to take him back and fears the worst if he comes back home.

Wagoner says her son threw an object at a teacher, tried choking his sister to death, and put a plastic bag over her head and asked if she could breathe.

“As of today, I have been officially hotlined with DFS for abandoning my child,” Wagoner said. “I just don't see why I should put myself at risk of losing all my children to try and get one helped. I love my son, but we are not safe.”

Wagoner says the state has put in a referral to help with her son's residential care. The state has officially taken custody of her son. Wagoner said she will soon appear in court about the matter in Phelps County.
