ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A man was fatally struck by a Metro bus in South City late Tuesday night.

According to police, 40-year-old Keary Joyner was walking south on a sidewalk parallel to the bus in the 2300 block of South Ground when he stumbled into the side of the bus, fell and was struck by the bus' rear tires just after 11:20 p.m. The driver of the bus traveled a short distance before a passing motorist told him he had struck the man.

Joyner was pronounced dead at a local hospital shortly after the incident occurred.

All southbound buses on the #70 Grand were rerouted while police were on the scene of the accident. Service on Grand was back to normal early Wednesday morning.
