CHESTERFIELD, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

MSD told News 4 it is working to repair a sewer main break that occurred near the Missouri River in Chesterfield.

MSD said the break occurred around 7:00 a.m. Tuesday in the 14700 block of Howard Bend Station Road. Crews building a new line reported the break.

According to MSD, the break is causing a leak into a ditch. Pump stations have been shut down while crews work on repairs. However, due to the pump stations being shut down, some sewers are overflowing in certain areas including

  • Caulks Creek near the intersection of Crystal Spring Drive and Brighthurst Drive in Chesterfield
  • Portions of the walk/bike trail that runs along the Monarch Chesterfield levee south of Chesterfield Commons
  • Other portions of Caulks Creek
  • Portions of Bonhomme Creek

MSD said there is no threat to public health but advise people to avoid the affect areas. The utility said it does not know when the repairs will be complete.
