(CNN) – Tyson Foods is the latest chicken company to phase out antibiotics in its poultry.
Tyson said it hopes to remove all human antibiotics from its chicken over the next two years.
The concern is that the use of antibiotics to treat sick chickens is making medicine less effective in humans, and contributing to the spread of drug-resistant bacteria.
Two of Tyson's rivals, Perdue and Pilgrim's Pride, are also taking steps to cut back on antibiotics.
Meanwhile, McDonald's said it will start using chicken raised without certain antibiotics, and Chipotle unveiled plans to remove all genetically modified ingredients from its food.
