ST. LOUIS (AP) - A $5 million federal grant will provide jobs and job skills training to thousands of low-income and minority residents of north St. Louis city and county.
Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon announced the Department of Labor grant Tuesday in St. Louis, the same day it was announced that northern parts of the city and county have been designated as one of eight new Promise Zones by the Obama administration.
The grant announced by Nixon will help fund the Career Pathways Bridge initiative that will seek to connect more than 6,000 people with jobs or jobs training.
