ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A man is recovering after being bitten by a copperhead snake in Sullivan Saturday evening.

The man walked into Missouri Baptist Hospital around 5:30 p.m. and said he had been bitten by a snake. The man was able to catch the snake, which was less than 10-inches long, and brought it with him to the hospital.

The man's bite was minor, according to officials.

An agent with the Missouri Department of Conservation was called to the hospital to take the snake.

Copperheads are native to Missouri. There are only two human deaths that have been attributed to their bite throughout the state.
