Man sentenced to 8 years in robbery of St. Clair, Mo. pharmacy

ST. CLAIR, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- A man who terrorized a pharmacy in St. Clair, Missouri during a robbery has been sentenced to eight years in jail.

Zachary Mesey, 24, was charged with first-degree attempted armed robbery, armed criminal action and third-degree misdemeanor assault in the April 18, 2015 for attempted robbery of Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy in St. Clair, Mo.

According to police, Mesey arrived at the pharmacy after it had just closed to pick up a prescription. When the store owner let him in and began walking to the back, his daughter noticed Mesey had a handgun. Mesey was caught on camera pointing a gun at the store owner. Mesey told the store owner he wanted narcotics. The store owner told police when Mesey lowered the gun, he began to wrestle him in an attempt to disarm him. Mesey freed himself and fled on foot. 

Detectives received a tip that Mesey was the person in surveillance photos. On April 22, 2015, Mesey was informed he was wanted for questioning after authorities tracked him down to a residence on Sappington Bridge Road. Mesey turned himself into police that day.

Mesey will have to serve a minimum of three years before he could potentially be released.
