MoDOT to close westbound lane of Poplar Street Bridge Friday night

Posted: Updated:

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Drivers who use the Poplar Street Bridge to get downtown should allow for extra time to get their destination after crews close another lane Friday night.

At 8:00 p.m., Missouri Department of Transportation crews will close another westbound lane of the bridge.

During the closure, crews will be constructing a new driving surface on the bridge.

“Folks are going to have to get back in that groove of using other bridges and we're lucky at this point that we have the new Stan (Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge) span to use, so folks can get into downtown,” MoDOT engineer Deanna Venker said.

MoDOT crews advise using the Stan Musial Veterans Memorial, Eads and Martin Luther King Bridges as an alternate route into downtown from Illinois.

The lanes are expected to remain closed until mid-May. When the lanes reopen, crews will close two left lanes for a month.
