CASEYVILLE, Il (KMOV.com) – Police in Caseyville are posting sex offenders' information on Facebook and officials are charging the offenders to live in the city.

Many residents in Caseyville told News 4 that are very happy with $100 fee sex offenders have to pay.

“It has become a very good tool for us to let the community know and keep them involved in what's going on in their neighborhood,” said Chief Frank Moore. He says he supports the idea of posting the information on Facebook because that information is already available to the public.

“I think they should have the word out there,” said Caseyville Resident Jewel Clemmons. “My niece walks home from school by herself and I would want to know what's out there.”

Moore started charging sex offenders to live in Caseyville and his decision is covered in the Illinois State Statute as a compliance fee to register in the state. It is an annual fee.
