Mehlville schools budget cuts package could mean fewer teachers, larger classes

MEHLVILLE, Mo. (KMOV.com) - Mehlville School District is considering a future with fewer teachers and larger class sizes in an attempt to cut $4 million from the 2015-2016 budget.

The district may also ask parents of children who live within a mile of the school and ride the bus to pay for their transportation costs.

On Thursday night, the school board will vote on the budgets cuts package.

Mehlville School District relies on transfer student tuition from Riverview Gardens for funding. The district receives more than $9,000 per transfer student, according to Riverview Gardens source.

A final vote on the entire $104 million budget for next school year will take place next month.
