Missouri legislator pushing for bill to allow concealed weapons on MetroLink

Posted: Updated:
(KMOV.com) -- A Missouri state legislator is pushing for a bill that would allow riders to carry concealed weapons on the MetroLink.

Metro, city police and Mayor Francis Slay oppose the idea from Ron Hicks (R-St. Peters). Metro prohibits weapons of any type and has posted warning signs.

A local business owner told News 4 something needs to be done before he steps foot on another bus or train.

"These gun-free zones are nt necessarily so," said Stephen Marx. "These thugs and criminals don't adhere to rule of law. They go by whatever they wish to do."

Innocent passengers being beaten and shootings at bus stops are deterring some from using public transportation.
