ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Firefighters battled flames at the old Lemp Brewery warehouse early Wednesday morning.

The South City warehouse, located in the 3500 block of Lemp, caught fire just after midnight.

Fire officials said it appeared vagrants were living in the two rooms the fire was contained to because they found space heaters, electricity and other items in them.

The large amount of timber construction inside the building helped spread the fire, which crews battled for over an hour.

Crews said the fire was accidental and a final cause will not be determined due to unsafe conditions.

Nobody was injured during the fire.
