FLORISSANT, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A second-grader from the Hazelwood School District is being called a hero after saving his family from a fire.

Trevyon Estes' mother put him to bed but the boy decided to sneak out and play some late night video games. While he was playing the games, the 8-year-old smelled smoke from a basement water heater, which had caught fire, and jumped into action by waking up his family and calling the fire department.

The Armstrong Elementary student was presented with a medal of honor and a “Hero's Meal,” one McDonald's Happy Meal, at school.
