Francis Howell North High School evacuated after threatening message found

ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A threatening message was found in the gymnasium of Francis Howell North High School which caused students to be evacuated Monday morning.

According the school district, students were evacuated to the football field around 9:20 a.m. after a message threatening the safety of students and staff was found.

Police said they investigated and found the threat to not be credible.

In a “safety alert” sent out to parents, the Andy Downs, the school's principal, said they are working to identify the person responsible for the statement and will discipline them according to the school's code of conduct, “which could include 180 days of suspension up to an expulsion.”

Students returned to class less than hour after the incident began.
