Alton woman receives prison for false tax returns

(KMOV.com) -- An Alton woman has been sentenced to 46 months in prison for preparing fraudulent tax returns.

Aisha Wright, 33, was convicted on two counts after an investigation found that she was systematically preparing false returns for taxpayers. The court determined that over a three-year period, Wright filed 492 federal income tax returns causing a total loss in excess of $1 million. Wright is ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $1,052,302.85. She was also ordered to serve 450 hours of community service as a condition of her three-year supervised release following the completion of her prison sentence.
