New security measures meant long lines for some at Busch Stadium

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Security changes by the Cardinals meant long lines quickly disappeared as fans entered the ballpark Monday.

Many fans had to wait in line 20 minutes or longer. The long wait time was due to metal detectors, which MLB requires every fan to go through before entering the ballpark.

Gate 5, which was closed for a soccer match hosted by Busch Stadium because it was not ready, was open Monday. Despite it being an option for fans, lines were still long.

However, at one point security personnel at the gates stopped checking bags allowing fans to quickly enter the stadium.

Some fans told News 4 they don't like the wait caused by security, but others believe safety is worth the wait.
