Vigil held to honor St. Louis homicide victims

Posted: Updated:

(KMOV.com) – More than 100 people, including law enforcement officers and community leaders, attended a vigil in north St. Louis to honor homicide victims.

The vigil is held annually by the Crime Victim Advocacy Center. The CVAC helps almost 200 families of homicide victims each year, the majority of whose cases remain unsolved.

“My focus today is on the victims and how we can help as law enforcement and how we can help bring closure to their cases,” said St. Louis County Police Chief John Belmar. “And how we can bring justice to their families.”

Both the advocacy center and Chief Belmar say justice takes cooperation from the community and events like this help foster those relationships in an effort to solve the cases.
