SOUTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) -

Two suspects driving a red Volkswagen led police on a chase from Jefferson County into St. Louis County Thursday afternoon.

Police said the entire incident began in the 6800 block of Old Lemay Ferry Road in unincorporated Jefferson County. Police said a man came home and notice a window had been broken. He then fetched a neighbor and the two entered the house, interrupting a burglary being performed by two men.

Authorities said the two suspects fired shots at the homeowner and neighbor, but missed. The two suspects then drove away in the red Volkswagen.

According to police, the two suspects drove to a home on Old Antonio and shot a man as he was getting out of his car, then they drove away.

Police then pursued the suspects and pull them over. However, after stopping, the suspects drove away. Police said the suspects fired shots at officers during the chase and eventually crashed at the intersection of Mattis and Lemay Ferry Road in south St. Louis County.

The suspects were taken into custody.
