WEBSTER GROVES, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A woman was killed and a man injured during a house fire in Webster Groves Thursday morning.

Several departments and fire vehicles responded to the blaze in the 400 block of Greeley Avenue around 6:00 a.m.

A woman was killed in the early morning house fire and her father was taken to the hospital with injuries. Firefighters say they found the man in a first floor bedroom.

"That person was responsive, but we don't know the condition of the person beyond that," said a firefighter.

His daughter was found dead in a bedroom on the second floor, where most of the damage occurred.

The fire appeared to happen around the time that storms were rolling through the area, something neighbors say could have lead to the fire.

"With all these big, old trees and all these older homes getting struck by lightning over here is not uncommon," said neighbor Kim Lane.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Authorities have not released the name of the middle-aged woman.
