MARION, Ill. (AP) - The 88-year-old mayor of Marion has won a 14th four-year term in office.

Bob Butler already has served 52 years as mayor of the southern Illinois city of about 17,000 residents. He won nearly 72 percent of the vote in returns from the Williamson County Clerk's office in Tuesday's election. He faced two challengers.

Butler said after the tallies were in that he likes to believe he has "the pulse of the people." He says "the tough part is living up to the expectations that are out there."

Butler ran a campaign based on steady economic growth and making sure the city's infrastructure is maintained. He says in his next term he'll focus on pursuing new business.
