VALLEY PARK (KMOV.com) - A teacher in the Valley Park School District is facing charges after allegedly having sex with a student.

Robert Woerheide, 38, is charged with sexual contact with a student and child molestation. He allegedly drove the victim to his apartment and had sex with him.

Woerheide is being held on a $50,000 cash only bond. 

The school district's superintendent, Dr. David Knes, released the following statement Tuesday:

“First of all, our students' safety is our top priority. Mr. Robert Woerheide is no longer an employee of the Valley Park School District. I am     proud that our school board took swift and appropriate action in regard to Mr. Woerheide's employment three weeks ago. I want to assure our     students, parents and staff that we will continue to make decisions in the best interest of our students. Also, I want to thank our local police     for communicating with us and keeping us informed throughout their ongoing investigation.”
