What's on the ballot in St. Charles County

Voters in St. Charles County will be voting on school district bonds, property tax levies, and mayoral races on Tuesday.

In St. Charles, voters will be deciding between incumbent Mayor Sally Faith and challenger Mike Klinghammer. Voters will also be picking mayors in Lake St. Louis, Portage Des Sioux, St. Paul, Weldon Spring, and West Alton.

In O'Fallon, voters will be casting ballots on Proposition 1, a $28.6 million bond issue that would fund a new police station and justice center. Central Fire and Rescue District is asking voters to approve Proposition S, a $16 million bond issue to replace fire trucks and equipment, and build a new fire house.

The Fort Zumwalt School District has two propositions on the ballot, Propositions A and B. Prop A would not raise taxes but is a $25 million bond issue for repairs, renovations and other improvement throughout the district. Prop B is 48 cents tax levy increase to help balance the district's budget, hire more technology teachers, and keep class sizes in check.

Voters in Wentzville will be deciding whether to pass Proposition E, which if passed, would levy a 25 cents tax increase to build new schools, renovate classrooms and update security. The district is one of the fastest growing in the state.

Around 12 cities have board of aldermen elections, six have school board elections.

Officials said they are expecting a 25 percent turnout.
