ST. FRANCOIS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Prosecutors in St. Francois County have filed charges against a suspect accused of murdering a man Wednesday night.

Daniel “Danny” Dunn, 63, is accused of killing Edward “Eddie” Douglas, 41, by shooting him in the chest and head.

Douglas' body was found lying in the intersection of Route JJ and Rouggly Road around 10:00 p.m.

According to investigators, a smashed phone was found near Douglas' foot. Police say that when the phone was turned on, it was revealed that Douglas and Dunn had been talking shortly before the shooting.

A resident near the scene said he heard a gunshot at the intersection and saw a dark colored truck pull into a driveway on Route JJ. When the vehicle exited the driveway, the neighbor said, it stopped near Rouggly Road and another gunshot was heard.

Dunn told police he was with Douglas all day Wednesday and dropped him off at a commuter parking lot on U.S. 67 and Route JJ at 9:30 p.m.

During their investigation, police saw a 1998 Ford Ranger at Dunn's home that the witness was able to identify as the suspect vehicle. The truck was taken in for evidence and processed. According to police, blood splatter was located on Dunn's truck on the passenger side above the rear tire and another blood stain was found on the shirt Dunn was wearing that day.

Dunn is charged with first-degree murder and an unclassified felony of armed criminal action.
