Madison County officials vow to help victims of child abuse

MADISON COUNTY, Ill. (KMOV.com) – April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and officials in Madison County, Illinois are vowing to do whatever they can to help kids in the Metro East.

At 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Judge Barb Crowder and several other officials will hold a news conference to address how others can help stop child abuse.

Judge Crowder told News 4 that child abuse encompasses a wide range of issues, including sexual, physical and mental abuse and includes children who see abuse happening to people around them.

The judge said there are 1,300 orders of protection granted in the county every year.

Wednesday's event is open to the public and will be held at the government building in Edwardsville.
