Cahokia man offers reward for info leading to MetroLink suspects’ arrests

CAHOKIA, Ill. (KMOV.com) – A Cahokia man is offering a $500 dollar reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspects involved in beating a man on the MetroLink.

“I'm just fed up with it, just fed up with seeing that,” said Lamar Gines. “I want to be one of the ones who puts a positive spin on the news. If it starts with me, then that's what I'm here to do.”

Police have released photos of the suspects in hopes that someone will be able to identify them.

The attack, which happened almost a week ago, occurred when three men approached the victim on the MetroLink, asked to use his cell phone, and began punching him in the face.

“I don't think that was cool,” the 43-year-old Cahokia utility worker said. “But they need guidance and they need help.”

The victim of the attack also started a GoFundMe page in order to raise money to buy a motorcycle so he doesn't have to ride the MetroLink anymore. He also says he plans on giving some of the money to other victims of assaults.

News 4 will continue to follow this story and bring you the latest on the investigation.
