KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

The brother of a Kansas City man charged in the frightening Interstate 70 shootings near St. Louis says his brother needs help.

“There's a lot of trauma going on in our family right now. And I wish he didn't go that route, but I hope he will be better,” Damon House said.

House is talking about his brother, Reginald Adams, who is now facing several charges, including assault and armed criminal action.

“My first reaction was anger because I tried to talk to him and he didn't listen to me,” House said.

Police say Adams was in a white car when the shooting spree started in Warren County, MO. Investigators say bullets hit seven people's cars as Adams allegedly randomly fired shots out of his window as he made his way through three counties.

It all came to a dramatic end near Lambert Airport in Saint Louis when Adams is accused of getting into a shootout with officers before he was handcuffed and taken into custody on I-70.

House had been with his brother a couple days ago in Kansas City.

“I tried to talk to him. I think the Lord has put him in a better place right now, where he should be to keep him, you know, because he's been having problems,” he said.

House said his brother has been struggling with the death of their mother who was killed in a crash on U.S. 40 onto eastbound Interstate 70 in 2012.

“I think he needs psych help to be put back on meds. I told him he should be back on meds. He went kind of off the deep end after my mother got killed, so I've been trying to deal with him and everyone else and it's kind of hard, but this here is a shocker,” House said.

He said Adams was in the car when they crashed.

Two people were hurt in the shootings and one victim was last listed in critical condition.
