ST. ANN, Mo. (KMOV.com) - News 4 has confirmed that 22-year old reserve officer Jacob Klaus resigned from St. Ann Police Department following an arrest on suspicion of drunk driving.

St. Ann Police Chief Aaron Jimenez told News 4 Klaus apologized for his arrest

"One of the things he did say is that he was sorry for the incident and that he was very embarrassed for himself," Jimenez said.

According to St. Louis County Police, Klaus crashed his pickup into a house in the 1100 block of English Saddle Road Saturday night around 7:00 pm.  Police arrested and booked Klaus on suspicion of drunk driving.

Jimenez said Klaus was a good officer.

"He definitely was a great employee here, we had zero problems out of him and he eventually would have been hired full time," said Jimenez.

The chief said Klaus admitted having a drinking problem which he said developed after using alcohol to deal with the stress of working in Ferguson during the protests and unrest.
