ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Six people were arrested in the Delmar Loop Saturday for failure to disperse and peace disturbance.

Officers responded to a call for several groups of juveniles fighting in the area. Five were arrested for peace disturbance and one for failure to disperse. Another suspect, a 15-year-old male, was taken into custody after officers observed him firing shots.

The arrests do not appear to be related to protests in the area, according to police.

A witness at the Peacock Diner said problems started as early as 4 p.m. yesterday with two different groups of teenagers getting into fights. One officer was hit by a bottle as police scrambled to break up the fights. Some involved jumped on cars to get away from police.

University City Police said while the issue quickly escalated, officers were able to control the scene by 10 p.m. There were no reported injuries.

News 4 will continue to update the situation as information becomes available.
