ROLLA, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Police say a 25-year-old Rolla man and a 5-year-old boy were taken to a hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds from an accidental discharge of a firearm Tuesday.

The Phelps County Sheriff's Department responded to a reported shooting at a residence near Rolla, Mo.

Upon arrival, deputies with the sheriff's department discovered a five-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his leg. The child was airlifted to Children's Hospital in St. Louis for treatment.

Deputies later discovered that a 25-year-old man at the residence also sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and was transported by ambulance to the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla for treatment.
