MSD to hold series of meetings about proposed rate increase

Posted: Updated:

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- On Wednesday, MSD will kick off a series of community meetings to communicate the components and reasoning behind their recent rate hike proposal.

The first meeting is Wednesday night from 7-8:30 at MSD Room 109 - 2350 Market Street in St. Louis. Click here to see other upcoming meetings.

MSD customers in the city of St. Louis and St. Louis County will vote next year on a plan to raise sewer rates to $60 per month.

The current rate is about $40 per month. MSD wants to use $1 billion in bonds and a 12 percent property tax to pay for stormwater utilities.

If the measure does not pass, MSD tells News 4 that rates could rise quicker than the projected plan of the summer of 2019.
