Dairy Queen offers free vanilla soft-serve cones Monday

WHNS (FOX Carolina) - Dairy Queen is celebrating the company's 75th anniversary by offering a free vanilla soft-serve cone to customers on March 16.

The first Dairy Queen opened in Joliet, Ill. In 1940 and has since grown into a global company with 4,800 locations.

During Monday's celebration, which also takes place on the 75th day of 2015, participating Dairy Queen and DQ Grill & Chill locations throughout the U.S. Will serve fans a free five-ounce vanilla soft-serve cone with the signature curl on top, according to a news release.

Donations will be collected for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals during the day as well. The funds raise will stay in local communities and help save children's lives at the 170 Children's Miracle Network Hospitals in North America, the release stated.
