ST. LOUIS (AP) — The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District is getting ready for an onslaught of water into the storm sewer system of the region.
Most of the region was blanketed with 4 to 7 inches of snow over the weekend. On Tuesday, temperatures in the 50s and heavy rain is in the forecast.
The combination of snow melt and heavy rain will create plenty of water and the potential for flash-flooding. MSD officials said Monday that they are coordinating to make sure that inlets are clean of snow and debris in low-lying areas.
Meanwhile, residents are asked to remove snow from inlets near their property. Anyone noticing flooding on streets is urged to call MSD's service number at 314-768-6260.
