Grichuk back on the field as Cards near the start of games

JUPITER, FL (BaseballSTL) -- Cardinals outfielder Randal Grichuk, who has been battling a tight lower back for the last few days, is expected to be on the field this afternoon in just about all drills.  The right-handed power hitter has missed the last couple practices but he says he will only be held out of a couple things today.

Grichuk is in a battle for a bench spot this spring (I plan on writing about this nonsense in a future column since he should absolutely be on the team).

Live throwers in pitching practice include Lance Lynn, John Lackey, Carlos Martinez, Trevor Rosenthal, Jordan Walden, Marco Gonzales, Sam Freeman, Carlos Villanueva, Tyler Lyons, Sam Tuivailala and Mitch Harris.

Grapefruit League games begin this week on Thursday with the Cardinals and Marlins at Roger Dean Stadium.  Houston then travels here for a game on Friday before the Cards are off to Viera for a road game against Washington on Saturday.

We'll have more on the Cards and updates on who will start those games as the information becomes available on Baseball STL, and News 4.
