Search underway for vehicle that struck, killed woman on Interstate 70 overnight

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Authorities are searching for a vehicle that struck and killed a woman in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 early Monday morning.

According to the Associated Press, 20-year-old Nicole Cook was walking on the roadway with another woman when she was struck and killed. The other woman was not injured in the accident. 

The car that hit Cook left the accident scene before police arrived. Authorities believe the car that struck Cook was a dark colored truck or SUV. 

The interstate was closed at Airflight Drive from 1:20 until 2:40 a.m. while emergency crews responded to the accident.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is handling the investigation.
