JUPITER, Fla. (Baseball STL) -- If you don't believe me, just turn on your television and check out the Honda Classic that's (attempting to be) played nearby here in West Palm Beach. Scores and tee times alike are all over the place due to rough weather.
Well, after yesterday's planned outdoor workout getting moved inside due to consistent rain, guess what? Rain is in the forecast once again. Showers are mainly expected in the afternoon so there's at least a chance the Cardinals will get their regular work in.
Mike Matheny said yesterday he was intent on not losing the day simply because of some rain. That's why they had players push sleds down hallways and set up classrooms in places usually designated for other purposes. The hope is they won't have to do that again today.
Once again there is no pitchers practice (formerly called live BP). Those throwing today are only doing so on the side. Marco Gonzales, John Lackey, Jordan Walden, Trevor Rosenthal and Carlos Martinez are among those on the mound. But - as mentioned - they won't face any hitters.
Position players will do individual defensive drills after warming up and playing catch. They'll then take batting practice off coaches, work on base running and then hit some more in the cage before calling it a day around noon local time.
