BELLEVILE, Ill. (KMOV.com) – The driver of a vehicle is in police custody after a car drove into a Belleville building Wednesday night.

The vehicle was traveling westbound on East Main Street when it hit a corner, traffic light, another pole and ran into the building around 10:00 p.m. Police believe the vehicle was going more than 40 miles per hour over the speed limit when the accident occurred.

Two people were trapped inside the vehicle and four were inside the house at the time of the accident. Emergency crews rushed all six people to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

 

According to police, the driver of the vehicle was taken into custody for allegedly being drunk.
