(KMOV.com) – Police said they are investigating a break-in that occurred at a vacant home in a low crime area of Arnold.
Police said thieves broke into a vacant home in the Linderhof Estates Subdivision, which is located off JeffCo Boulevard. The thieves forced open a lock on a kitchen window and broke into a home in the 3300 block of Black Oak Trail. Police believe the break in occurred between February 1 and February 15.
Authorities said the family that previously occupied the house had not moved all of their stuff out, allowing thieves get away with $8500 in tools and electronics. Neighbors told News 4 crime is very rare in the subdivision.
“There’s no crime except maybe a car that was broke into down the street, a truck, but nothing was taken,” said resident Jerry O’Leary.
A realtor told News 4 said it easier to sell a home if furniture is still kept inside. He recommends homeowners put lights and a radio on a timer, and homeowners should inform neighbors so they know to watch out for the house and recognize who does and does not belong near the home.
