FOX19 - A Florida mother is accused of beating her daughter before sending her to school wearing a shirt that said she'd received a “good woopin” for poor grades.
Melany Joyce Alexander, 31, faces child abuse charges after her alleged plan to shame her daughter backfired and landed her behind bars.
The handwritten t-shirt claimed the girl received failing grades and warned friends and boyfriends to “back off before I get another good woopin like I got last night.”
"My eating French Fries and being a social butterfly is over because I know why my parents send me to school," read the two-sided black text on the shirt.
Alarmed school officials contacted police about the threatening content on the shirt, according to Fox.
Hernando County officers and social workers said bruises were found on the child that lined up with a belt whipping. Alexander admitted to deputies that she beat the girl due to her bad grades, Fox reports.
"It's obviously someone who went way way over the line. They were obviously seeing red when they did this and it's disappointing because it's a child," a police officer told Fox.
Alexander has been arrested four times in the past four years on charges including criminal mischief, stalking and probation violations, according to court documents. She is held with a $2,500 bond and was ordered to stay away from the child.
